It's that time again, time for the MirrorFootball Alternative Premier League Table. But what have we gone for this week?
After Hull City chairman Assem Allam has faced a wall of trouble in trying to re-name the club Hull City Tigers, this week's Alternative Table shows the 20 Premier League clubs with their original names, and Hull are one of only 6 teams to have never changed their name.
Some teams have only made slight changes. Arsenal, Cardiff West Brom, Fulham, Newcastle, Stoke, and Swansea have all just changed or removed a word. Man United, Man City and West Ham on the other hand have made quite drastic changes.
Man United were originally formed in 1878 by the carriage and wagon department of the Yorkshire railway who called it Newton Heath LYR. By 1892 they were in the the first division and independent of the rail company so the LYR was dropped. John Henry Davies who bought a share of the club along with three other businessmen became club president and changed the name officially to Manchester United on 24th April 1902.
West Ham was originally formed by ironworks workers in 1895, hence their original name, the Thames Ironworks team. Following growing disputes over the running of the club Thames Ironworks folded, however just a month later the team was relaunched as West Ham United.
Man City also changed their name completely from Ardwick to Manchester City. [
